Basic Adult
The USFSA Basic Adult program is for adult skaters who wish to
learn basic skating skills. It is not a prerequisite to any USFSA Standard
Test. These are the elements as defined in the
Revised Curriculum 2000 (effective Sept 1, 2000)

- Forward strides and glides
- Forward swizzles (4-6 in a row)
- Backward skating
- Backward swizzles (4-6 in a row)
- Forward one-foot glides (one times the
skater's height, R&L)
- Two-foot turns in place
- Snowplow stops (R or L)
- Forward curves on 2 feet
- Forward 1/2 swizzle pumps on a circle (CW
& CCW)
- Forward chasse' on a circle (both
directions)

- Backward edges on a circle (BO & BI,
CW & CCW)
- Backward crossovers (CW & CCW)
- Inside mohawk (R to L or L to R)
- Basic FO and FI consecutive edges (4-6)
- Forward progressives (CW & CCW)
- Footwork sequence: beginning with a
2-foot swizzle, to a forward progressive, followed by a forward
Chasse', ending with a 2-foot side lunge around in a small circle.

- Perimeter stroking with crossover end
patterns
- FO to FI change of edge sequence
- Alternate backward crossovers with
2-foot transition
- Footwork sequence: 3-5 forward
crossovers to an inside mohawk, 3-5 backward crossovers, step-forward
inside the circle and repeat
- Power 3-turns (one direction only)
- Backward chasse's on a circle (CW &
CCW)
