Pairs Elements - Group 5 Lifts

Group 5 lifts are known as "Hand-to-Hand Hold (Lasso Type) Lifts".   Common lifts in this group include the Lasso Lift, Step Up Lasso Lift, and the Tap Overhead Lift.  Like the Group 4 lifts, these are hand-to-hand hold lifts, however in these lifts there is rotation by the lady on the way up. There are 3 different entries to the lasso family of lifts -- toe entry, step entry, and edge entry.  The toe and step entries both require a half rotation by the lady on takeoff while the edge or "true" lasso requires a full rotation by the lady.

Danielle & Steve Hartsell / Detroit SC

The Lasso Lift is the "true" Lasso and requires a full rotation by the lady.  Notice in these photos that both Danielle and Steve start out facing the same direction. On the lift, Danielle rotates fully around and ends up facing forward again while she is in the air position.  Steve's arms are fully extended and the partners maintain the hand to hand hold.

The Tap Overhead version of the Lasso family of lifts starts with the partners facing each other. In the Tap Overhead shown here, Danielle rides an LBI edge, then taps with her right foot to vault into the air, turning halfway around so that in the air she and Steve both face the same way.
