Juvenile Short Program
The Rulebook does not define a standard Juvenile Short Program, and there is no Short Program for Juvenile level skaters at
Regionals. Local organizing committees are free to include events of their own definition in non-qualifying competitions however, and many include a Juvenile Short Program. When they do so, they generally "invent" their own list of elements for this event.
Because it is inconvenient for skaters to change their short program every time they go to a different competition, the
Detroit Metro Council has created a recommended Juvenile Short Program for competitions in the southeast Michigan area. This is purely a voluntary standard, but it is one which benefits skaters and coaches in the area. Interclub councils in other areas may have developed similar standards.
This information is provided as a reference for local organizing committees putting together their competition announcements.
