Michigan High School Skating High School Figure Skaters in Michigan compete in 5 Districts, each composed of 6-12 teams. Each school may field a High level team, and a Low level team, which compete separately. Skaters participate in 4 initial-round competitions within their own District, then the victors from each district meet in a final State Championship Competition in March.. Three of the initial-round competitions in each district are Team Compulsory competitions. At these competitions, there are 3 events at each level - a jumps event, a spins event, and a moves event. One of the initial-round competitions is an Individual competition. At these, selected team members perform skating programs which are judged individually. The Invitational Competition (the "Optional" competition) is open to teams from any District. For more information about this Michigan series of competitions, and how to get involved, contact Michelle Dittmer at highschoolskating@yahoo.com.
