Figure Skater's Website

Downloading and Printing Pictures

The pictures on this site are for your enjoyment and you are free to download and print them for your own personal scrapbooks/etc, or to republish them for your own club or team publicity purposes. I'd appreciate an "attribution notice" if you republish them. You MAY NOT use any of these pictures for any commercial purpose or in any way that would be considered defamatory or exploitive. Please don't use pictures of people other than yourself without their permission.

How to Download Pictures

It is easy to download and save a picture from the website. Start on the "thumbnail page" (that's the page that usually has 12 small pictures on it). Find the picture that you want to download, then left-click on it. This will cause a page to be displayed that has a larger version of that picture surrounded by captions/etc. Now left-click on THAT picture and you will see an even larger version of the picture. Finally, RIGHT-click on THAT picture and you will see a context menu pop up that has an option similar to "save picture as.." or "save image as..". Click that option and you will get a box that lets you tell your computer where to save the picture.

You can repeat that process as many times as you want, saving each picture you like.

Printing Pictures

Probably the easiest and the cheapest way is to get them printed at your local drugstore or photo shop. A year or so ago I did a trial at all the chains near my home and found that they all do prints that basically look like "real pictures", and typically cost less than inkjet prints. My favorite is Walgreen's.

If you go to a store, look for a "Fuji" kiosk, that's what gave the nicest prints in my tests. In my area, they have Fuji available at Walgreen's and Walmart's. Most places that have self-service kiosks in the store let you bring in pictures on CD or most of the common flash memory devices (CF card, memory stick, SD card, etc). The menus on the kiosk will let you select pictures from your media, then crop them if necessary and order prints.

At my local Walgreen's, 4x6 prints cost 19c, 5x7 cost $2, and 8x10 cost $4 (April 2014). Prices are pretty competitive between the different stores, but might vary in different areas of the country.

For even more convenience, you can upload your prints direct from your computer to Walgreen's website and have them printed at just about any Walgreen anywhere. That's what I do if I want more than a couple. I believe Walmart offers a similar service.

At the resolutions I publish, you can make acceptable 8x10 prints from most of my pictures, and really good 5x7 prints from almost all of them.  Some of the ones that are underexposed (dark or not very contrasty) won't be as attractive in the larger sizes.

Contact Me for Help

If you have trouble getting pictures, please feel free to contact me. I can probably help you figure out how to do it. For the synchro competitions, where I publish lots of pictures you can contact me and ask for a CD with all of your team pictures -- I'll be happy to send you one (I'd also be happy to accept a team pin or a couple postage stamps in exchange, if you're so inclined...).
