Sending Competition Results

Its easy to have your competition results posted.  Ask your Accountants to send a Microsoft Word version of the Club Summary Report ("Report of Skaters from All Clubs" click here to see sample) from their Forms Central program to me by email.  I can translate this file automatically and post searchable results from that file.  They can email it to me at don@korteweb.com

Your competition results will be posted here and are also included in the "long-term history" results reports available by-skater.

If you plan to have results posted, you may want to post a sign at registration or near the results postings on the wall directing skaters to www.sk8stuff.com for final results.  Usually I can get these posted the same day (or the next morning) that they are emailed to me.

Click here to see a list of some of the competitions for which results are posted, or click here to view a representative result posting.

Instructions to Accountants (How to Generate the Club Summary Report):

  • Delete all files in Halforms2\Hal-SIF directory (to clear out any old data in the SIF directory)
(this can be done either through Windows Explorer, or in Forms Central 2 by clicking the Delete all SIF files in Hal-SIF button in the top right corner of FC2)
  • Create new SIF files with results of all events using HAL
    • If an event is open, close it
    • From the Competition screen, navigate to File/Save Interchange Files...
    • Click on the Forms Central button in the bottom left (this fills out the proper path)
    • Click the OK button
  • If there are any events that did not take place (such as a 2-skater event with a scratch), delete the appropriate file from the Halforms2\Hal-SIF directory.
  • Open Forms Central 2 to create the file
    • Click on the Club Report tab at the top
    • Click the radio button for Get Data from SIF Files
    • Click the radio button for Preview Report
    • This should open a new MS Word document that is the Club Report
  • Save this MS Word document on a floppy disk and email it to Don (at the address noted above)
    • Navigate to File/Save As...
    • Select the A: drive in the Save In box at the top
    • Enter a name for this file, such as "ann_arbor_2004_results" in the File Name box

Special Note: Your accountants will know that their HAL program also generates SIF files which are made for the express purpose of exporting competition results.  I can read those also, but the USFSA has directed the accountants not to distribute these files to anyone because they also contain judge's actual marks, which are supposed to be secret.  Please reassure your accountants that the Word version of the Club Summary Report does not contain any sensitive data, and is the currently recommended solution for this results sharing.  It is OK with the USFSA to use this file in this way.

Thank You !!
